Virginia Oliver has been catching lobster all her life. At age 101, she started her trade more than a decade before World War II. Back then, very few women were harvesting lobsters.
Oliver started lobster trapping at around 8-years-old, and nearly a century later, she is possibly the oldest lobster fisher in the world.
These days, Oliver goes out to sea with her 78-year-old son, Max, on a boat that bears her name, the ‘Virginia.’
“I’ve done it all my life,” Virginia Oliver said.
