Tech giant Facebook is reportedly rebranding itself with an entirely new name focused on combining its metaverse of various social media platforms.
According to The Verge, the company will announce its plans as soon as next week, citing an unknown source with knowledge on the matter.
Facebook wants to rebrand itself as more than a social media, according to the publication.
A spokesman for Facebook said that the company does not comment on speculation or rumors.

Facebook also owns WhatsApp and Instagram.
A name change could position the three mega-platforms under an umbrella brand, similar to the structure used by Google, which sits under parent company Alphabet.
