Florida man jailed after trying to throw live alligator he allegedly stole from miniature golf course onto building’s roof to ‘teach it a lesson,’ authorities said.

Florida man William Hodge, 32 of Homestead, was arrested Thursday by Daytona Beach Shores police officers while attempting to throw a live alligator onto the roof of a beachside cocktail lounge, ABC NEWS reported.

He then took the alligator by the tail, hit it against the awning of the building, forcefully threw it to the ground, and stepped on it twice, the police report said.

Hodge said he stole the alligator from a miniature golf course and was ‘teaching it a lesson.’

The man will be charged with criminal mischief and theft, unarmed burglary of an occupied dwelling, and possession and injury of an alligator.
